Box Score SALEM, VA – The Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball team won its fourth ODAC title in program history with a 68-43 victory over Randolph College Sunday afternoon at the Salem Civic Center.
With the win, R-MC earns the automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will learn their opponent and site of competition at 1:00 p.m. To watch the selection show, fans can log onto www.ncaa.com.
The Yellow Jackets, who were playing in their 11th title game in just 21 years as a member of the ODAC, improves to 24-4 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets fashioned four players in double figures, getting a team-high 13 points from the tournament's most outstanding player Jordan Brown. Fellow all-tournament choices, Eric Pugh and Lamar Giggetts had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Brandon Braxton also scored 10 points for R-MC, while all-tournament selection Danny Jones added eight for R-MC in the win.
The game was tight for the first 15 minutes of the contest, before R-MC closed the half with a 15-2 run, taking a 35-20 lead into the locker room after a Jones bucket with 59 seconds left.
R-MC came out in the second half and pulled away from the WildCats, scoring 15 of the first 21 points, taking a 50-26 lead on a layup by Jones with 11 minutes to go.
A Caleb Perrson three-pointer cut the Jackets lead to 18 at 59-41 with 4:32 to play, but the Yellow Jackets closed the game on a 9-2 run to seal the win.
R-MC shot 55.6% from the field, making 30-of-54 shots on the afternoon, while holding Randolph to a season low in points, by causing 17 turnovers in the win.
