Box Score SALEM, VA – No. 11 Randolph-Macon got 18 points from both Eric Pugh and Danny Jones and used 13 three pointers to top ODAC rival Roanoke 85-52 in Salem on Saturday.
With the win, R-MC (20-4 / 12-3 ODAC) notches its 20th win of the season. The Jackets have now won 20 plus games in four consecutive seasons for the first time in school history and reach the 20 win mark for the fifth time in the last six years.
Pugh's 18 came on 7-of-10 shooting, including four makes from beyond the three-point line. Jones was 6-for-11 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds in the victory as well. Calvin Croskey also had 11 points, while Brandon Braxton added eight points as well. Adam Desgain drained four trifectas for 12 points. He and Jones helped the R-MC bench to a 45-14 edge over the Maroons subs.
R-MC shot 50% on the day making 32-of-63 shots on the afternoon. Roanoke made 21-of-53 shots on the day to shoot 40% in the loss.
The Yellow Jackets held a slim 35-30 at halftime before RC made its first shot of the second stanza to make the score 35-32.
A jumper by Pugh on its ensuing possession sparked what proved to be a 18-6 run that was capped by a Jones three-pointer that made the score 53-38 with 14:29 to play in the game.
A Croskey three pointer made the score 61-44 with 10:28 to go in the contest and proved to be the first points in a 27-8 run by the Jackets to close out the contest and seal win over the Maroons.
Roanoke drops to 9-14 overall and 5-9 in league play. RC got a team-high 13 points from both Kwasi Amponsah and Melvin Felix.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on February 19th when it hosts archrival Hampden-Sydney in the regular season finale. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
