Box Score GREENSBORO, NC – Guilford College got 16 points from Josh Pittman and Will Freeman as the Quakers topped Randolph-Macon, 66-53, in ODAC Men's Basketball action Saturday in Greensboro.
Randolph-Macon (6-3 / 2-2 ODAC) was led by Jamie Robinson who had a career-high14 points in the loss. Adam Desgain had 12 points for the Jackets, who shot just 34.6% for the game on 20-of-58 shooting from the field. Connor Sullivan, Calvin Croskey and Dylan Cole all finished with six points on the afternoon.
Guilford opened up an 11 point lead in the first-half when a three-pointer by Pittman with 8:31 to go in the first period made the score 24-13.
R-MC rallied, going on a 10-2 run, pulling within three after a conventional three-point play by Desgain made the score 26-23 with just under seven minutes to go.
The Quakers finished the first stanza with a 15-4 run of their own, going to the locker room with a 41-27 lead following a Freeman bucket with 14 seconds left on the clock.
GC maintained a lead early in the second-half, with a tip-in by Justin Stafford with 9:27 to go in the game giving the Quakers their largest lead of the contest at 54-38.
R-MC made another charge, cutting its deficit to six with a 12-2 run, with a Sullivan free-throw making it 56-50 with just over five minutes to play.
That would be as close as the Jackets would get as Guilford scored the next two baskets as it closed the game scoring 10 of the final 13 points.
Guilford's (7-2 / 2-1 ODAC) Will Monroe snared a game-best 11 boards to lead GC to a 44-35 edge on the glass. The Quakers made 23-of-54 (42.6%) shots from the floor on the day.
Randolph-Macon will be off for the next nine days for exams, before returning to action on December 19th when it hosts Averett. Please note that game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in Ashland.
