Box Score READING, PA – Albright used a 17-5 run to open the second half, breaking up what was a tied game at the half and propel the Lions to a 69-58 win over Randolph-Macon in the finals of the Wyndham Reading Tip-Off Tournament.
R-MC (2-1) was led by Lamar Giggetts who had a team-high 18 points to go along with nine boards. Desgain posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and a team-best 10 boards in the loss. Calvin Croskey and Marcus Badger had nine and seven points, respectively for R-MC.
Albright (2-0) was led by Derek Hall who had game-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Lions. Albright also got 11 points from Sam Marella and 10 from Cornell Mickens.
With the Lions leading by eight points with under six minutes to go in the first-half, a Giggetts three-pointer sparked what proved to be a 13-4 run that was capped off by a Badger jumper which pushed the Jackets ahead 32-31 to with 2:35 to play in the first period. A Mickens free-throw sent the teams to the locker room tied at 32.
Croskey drained a three-pointer to start the second-half to put the Yellow Jackets up early. Albright then went on a 17-2 run that was capped by a Mickens' bucket that pushed the Lions' lead to 49-37 with 13:39 to play in the game.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on the Friday after Thanksgiving when it hosts the Yellow Jacket Classic. R-MC will host Southwestern (TX) at 4:00 p.m., while Virginia Wesleyan will take on Trinity (TX) at 2:00 p.m.
