Box Score ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon Volleyball team improved to 16-3 on the year and 6-0 in the ODAC with a 3-0 win at home over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday.
Prior to the match, R-MC honored its three seniors Caroline Brown, Mallory James and Casey West. This trio has helped R-MC to a 93-24 record; a 34-3 mark against ODAC opponents and a 33-3 record at home in Crenshaw Gym.
These three student-athletes have helped R-MC to back-to-back ODAC Championships, two trips to the NCAA Tournament and its first ever National Ranking. Last season, the Yellow Jackets won their first two NCAA Tournament games and advanced to the Sweet 16. A win over then No.9 Colorado College in the tournament was the highest ranked opponent R-MC has beaten until Tuesday night's win over No.6 Christopher Newport.
As for the match, R-MC won by game scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-14. R-MC got 19 kills from Mallory Carter who made just one error on 35 attempts. The Jackets, who hit .419 as a team for the match, also got 10 kills from Tori Puryear, eight kills from Hillary Jessee and six kills from Danielle Moore. Maggie Holbert dished out 33 assists in the win as well.
Marli Dabareiner had 19 digs, Carter made 10 stops, while Brown had nine digs of her own to lead the defense.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on October 13th when it travels to Washington & Lee for a key ODAC match.
