Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va--- Bridgewater topped Randolph-Macon 5-2 Wednesday afternoon. The women fell to 5-4-1, 3-2 in conference play, while the Eagles improved to 9-3, 4-2 in the ODAC.
After opening ODAC play with three consective wins, the women have now dropped two straight.
Bridgewater jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half. Melanie Waters got the Eagles on the board early off a feed from Mari Mascrotta just six minutes into play. Waters struck again four minutes later, this time off a pass from Anna Theisen. Marrota then found Theisen in the 14th minute to make it 3-0. Theisen assisted Megan Groos at the 24:08 mark to give the Eagles a four goal lead through the first half.
Randolph-Macon got back into in the second half, when Megan Calabrese scored off a penalty kick in the 59th minute. Less than one minute later, Amanda Nelms dished an assist to Erin Hauser to cut the Yellow Jackets' deficit in half. The goal was Hauser's team-best ninth of the season, while the assist was Amanda Nelms picked up her team leading fifth assist.
The Eagles would survive though, as Marotta scored an unassisted goal to end the run in the 66th minute.
Charlotte Horne played a season-high 70 minutes on the day and recorded three saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Bridgewater outshot Randolph-Macon 13-7, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. R-MC held a 3-1 advantage in penalty kicks.
The women play again Saturday, September 8th as they travel to take on Emory & Henry. Game-time is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
