Box Score AMHERST, VA--- Randolph-Macon cruised by Sweet Briar, 4-0 Wednesday afternoon in ODAC action, behind three goals from Erin Hauser. The women improved to 7-4-1, 5-2 in the conference, while the Vixens fell to 1-10, 0-8 in the ODAC.
The win moved the Yellow Jackets into a three-way tie for fourth place with Roanoke and Bridgewater. The hat trick marked the second of the year for Hauser, who is now second in the conference in goals (12) and third in points with 28. She scored the first three goals of the game for R-MC.
Just four minutes into play, Amanda Nelms played a through ball to Hauser to take an early, 1-0 lead. Nelms now leads R-MC with six assists on the year, fifth best in the ODAC. In the 17th minute, Hauser found the back of the net again, this time off a corner from Jen LaBarge. The Yellow Jackets held a 2-0 advantage for the remainder of the first half.
In the 61st minute of play, Hauser finished the hat trick on her own, beating the defense up the middle of the field to score the unassisted goal. Barely two minutes later, LaBarge tucked a goal inside the right post to score her fourth goal of the year and give the final score.
Nelms paced Randolph-Macon with five shots on the day, while Ashley Lambers chipped in four shots, two on goal.
Briana Housekeeper picked up the win in goal for the Yellow Jackets, playing the first 66 minutes. Sam Hobe finished the game playing the final 24 minutes of play. Seanne Weekes took the loss for the Vixens, playing all 90 minutes and recording 11 saves on the evening.
R-MC outshot SBC 28-0, including a 15-0 edge in shots on goal. The women also held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, October 15th as they travel to Washington and Lee. Kick-off is set for a 12:00 p.m. start.
