Box Score ASHLAND, VA – No. 10 Randolph-Macon ran its win streak to 11 games with an 83-44 ODAC victory over visiting Lynchburg Wednesday evening in Ashland.
R-MC (15-2 / 8-1 ODAC) got a game-high 19 points from Erich Pugh. Pugh's backcourt mate Calvin Croskey had 13 points in the win, while Danny Jones added 13 points of his own on 5-of-8 shooting on the night. Brandon Braxton chipped in with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds, helping R-MC to a 45-38 edge on the glass.
The Yellow Jackets shot 50% on the night, making 29-of-58 shots from the field, including nine from behind the three-point arc. The R-MC defense held LC to 28.6% shooting, allowing the Hornets just 18 made shots on 63 attempts, including 2-of-13 from three-point land.
LC's Michael Wims pulled the Hornets within four points at 12-8 with just over 13 minutes to play in the first-half. On R-MC's ensuing possession, Braxton knocked down a jumper and sparked what proved to be an 18-0 run, capped by a Braxton bucket that made the score 30-8 with six minutes to go.
A Gary Boone jumper made the score 33-11, before R-MC closed the first stanza with a 13-4 run to take at 46-15 lead into the locker room at intermission.
Twelve different Yellow Jackets scored in the win, as R-MC saw its lead grow to as many as 39 in the second half.
Lynchburg (6-11 / 2-7 ODAC) was led by Nate Campbell who had 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in a losing effort. Robby Kaiser and Andrew Simmons each had six points as well for LC.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday when it travels to archrival Hampden-Sydney. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Farmville.
