Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Two first half goals by Mary Swarthout
proved to be all Catholic would need as the Cardinals knocked off
the Randolph-Macon Field Hockey team 5-0 Sunday afternoon in
Ashland.
Swarthout put CUA (3-0) on the board just under 18 minutes into
the game. She then doubled the Cardinals lead a little over 11
minutes later when she scored to put CUA up 2-0.
The game remained that way until 45:50 mark when Catherine
Mirsky was awarded a penalty stroke and converted the chance to
extend the Cardinal lead to 3-0.
CUA held a 16-9 edge in shots, while each team earned five
penalty corners on the afternoon.
R-MC's (0-3) Nicole Woodworth
made nine stops in the cage for the Yellow Jackets.
The Jackets will return to action next Saturday when it will
take on Juniata at the Salisbury Tournament. Game time is set for
1:00 p.m.
