Box Score Senior Mary McCarthy rattled the cage twice in the first half to
send Randolph-Macon Field Hockey (7-4 / 2-0 ODAC) to a 3-0 win over
Eastern Mennonite in Harrisonburg on Thursday.
The Yellow Jackets took an early 1-0 when Mary McCarthy scored
on a pass from Melanie Graham in the 11th minute.
McCarthy rattled the cage again just eight minutes later to put
Randolph-Macon on top 2-0 which would hold until half time.
Freshman Attacker Mikalea Rumley sealed the R-MC victory in the
49th minute when she scored unassisted, to give
Randolph-Macon a 3-0 advantage.
Despite being outshot 22-11, the Jackets' defense kept the
Royals' attack out of the net throughout the entire contest
with sophomore keeper Nicole Woodworth making seven saves.
Randolph-Macon's win over Eastern Mennonite is their first
since the 2005 ODAC Tournament quarterfinals and their first ever
win against Eastern Mennonite in Harrisonburg. The Yellow Jackets
have now won seven consecutive games which ties the programs
longest win streak set in 1999.
R-MC will be back in action Saturday, October 9th
when they take on Kenyon College at Christopher Newport University.
