Box Score Despite 10 saves from Randolph-Macon keeper China Bradley,
Averett rallied for two late goals to get past the Yellow Jackets
Women's Soccer team 2-1 in Ashland Wednesday.
After a scoreless first half, R-MC sophomore Amanda Nelms found
the back of the net on passes from Rachel Stewart and Ashley Stover
to put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0 59 minutes in.
Averett struck back at the 72 minute mark with an unassisted
goal from Pernilla Milton to tie the game at 1-1.
The Cougars took the lead three minutes later when Annika
Rindestedt found the back of the net.
Randolph-Macon fired several shots in the closing minutes but
could not find goal and Averett held on for the 2-1 win.
Jackets' keeper China Bradley totaled ten saves for the
game while Cougars' goalie Samantha Lupo stopped three
shots.
Averett held a 20-8 shot advantage while Randolph-Macon led with
four corner kicks.
R-MC Women's Soccer will be back in action Saturday,
September 4th when they host Ferrum at 3:00 p.m.
