Box Score SALEM, VA - Second-seeded Guilford used a late second half run
to upend fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon 81-65 in the championship
game of the 2010 ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament in Salem.
With the win, GC improves to 26-2 and captures the league's
automatic to the NCAA Tournament. R-MC drops to 22-6 overall
and will await word to if it will receive on the 19 "at-large" bids
to the 61 team-tournament. The Division III
selection show will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday on
www.ncaa.com.
R-MC was led by all-tournament team selection Eric Pugh who had
a game-high 17 points, while fellow all-tournament team choice
Danny Jones chipped in with 13. Adam Desgain and Brandon
Braxton each had 10 points as well for R-MC.
GC was paced by tournament Most Outstanding Player Tyler Sanborn
who had 12 points in 12 rebounds in the victory. T.C.
Anderson and Clay Henson had a team-high 15 each, while Rhett
Bonner added 13 for the Quakers as well.
Sanborn helped Guilford to a 38-29 edge on the glass.
Randolph-Macon trailed 35-31 at the half, before Pugh came out
and scored 11 points in the first 4:17, giving R-MC a 48-46
lead with a jumper.
Guilford responded with a 17-5 run that was capped off by a
Bonner bucket that put the Quakers out in front with 63-53 with
just over eight minutes to go in the game.
R-MC battled back, cutting the GC lead to five at 63-58
when Desgain knocked down a three with 5:11 to play, but that would
be as close as the Jacket would get as the Quakers would scored the
next six points to seal the game.
