Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- Randolph-Macon
fashioned four players in double-figures en-route to an 84-62 ODAC
home win over Lynchburg Wednesday night in Ashland.
R-MC, which is ranked No. 16 in
this week's D3hoops.com poll, improves to 20-4 overall and 11-4 in
the league. The win secures R-MC's third straight 20+ win
season and the sixth since the 2001-02 campaign.
Brandon Braxton led the offensive
charge with 19 points, while Danny Jones came off the bench to add
17. Jordan Brown also had 14, while reserve Adam
Desgain chipped in with 11 points on the night.
Eric Pugh's seven rebounds helped R-MC to a 37-30 edge on the
glass.
Steven Echols who had a team-best
15 points in the loss paced Lynchburg (9-15 / 4-10 ODAC)
offensively. Austin Chillemi came off the bench to give LC 14
points in a losing effort.
A low scoring first-half saw the
Yellow Jackets hold a 30-20 advantage at the intermission after
holding the Hornets to just 9-of-28 shooting.
LC was able to cut the Jackets lead
to 33-24 after a Nate Campbell layup in the opening minutes of the
second stanza.
R-MC was able to rattle off eight
of the next 10 points, taking a 41-26 lead after a three-point play
by Brown with just over 15 minutes to play.
After Chillemi cut the LC deficit
to 41-27, R-MC went on a 18-7 run capped by a pair of free-throws
by Calvin Croskey that made the score 59-35 with nine minutes to
go.
Randolph-Macon will close out the
regular season on Wednesday when it hosts archrival Hampden-Sydney
at 7:00 p.m.
