Box Score R-MC senior Ashley Malinowski put the Yellow Jackets up 2-1 in
the second half but Washington and Lee rallied for two goals to get
past Randolph-Macon Women's Soccer (6-5-3 / 3-3-3 ODAC) 3-2
in Ashland Saturday.
Erin Hauser gave R-MC an early 1-0 lead when she scored on a
pass from Megan Calabrese in the 19th minute.
The Generals answered back in the 42nd minute when
Ainsley Daigle capitalized on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1
heading into halftime.
Malinowski beat her defender and buried a shot into the corner
of the net five minutes into the second half, putting
Randolph-Macon on top 2-1.
W&L knotted the score at 2-2 in the 65th minute
on an unassisted goal by Jasmine Soo.
Daigle was awarded a free kick inside the box with eight minutes
to go and booted a shot just above the keeper's reach, giving
the Generals a 3-2 advantage which would prove to be the final.
W&L held a 14-9 advantage in shots and edged R-MC 6-4 in
corners.
Randolph-Macon Women's Soccer travels to Lynchburg College
on Wednesday, October 20th for a 4:00 ODAC match.
