Box Score Mary McCarthy rattled the cage twice in the first half to send
Randolph-Macon Field Hockey (10-5 / 4-1 ODAC) past Bridgewater 2-0
in Harrisonburg Saturday.
The senior McCarthy gave the Yellow Jackets an early 1-0
advantage when she scored on a pass from Mikalea Rumley in the
6th minute.
Randolph-Macon extended the lead to 2-0 ten minutes later on
another McCarthy goal, this time coming on a pass from the
sophomore Meredith Young.
The Yellow Jackets' defense clamped down on the
Bridgewater attack allowing just six shots for the game. All six
shots were saved by R-MC keeper Nicole Woodworth on the way to a
2-0 shutout win.
Randolph-Macon held a 10-6 advantage in shots while Bridgewater
edged the Yellow Jackets 9-5 in penalty corners.
R-MC will be back in action Tuesday, October 19th
when they travel to Roanoke for a 2:00 ODAC contest.
