Box Score ASHLAND, VA - Randolph-Macon topped visiting Eastern Mennonite
3-1 in ODAC Volleyball action on Monday night in Ashland. R-MC
dropped the first game 21-25, then reeled off three straight wins
25-16, 25-12 and 25-19. R-MC is now 14-2 overall and 6-1 in league
play.
R-MC was led by Raena Winton who
had a team-high 15 kills, to go along with Morgan Hymes' 13
kills and Hillary Jessee
who chipped in with nine. Courtney
Anderson dished out 31 assists, while Sam Block added 13
helpers of her own.
Defensively, Jessica Sears
recorded 14 digs and Marli
Dabareiner had 12 digs.
Prior to the match, R-MC honored its three seniors, Winton,
Block and Kelli Tarleton.
Since arriving on campus, this trio has helped the Yellow Jackets
to 77 wins, including a 30-7 ODAC record. Last season, they played
important roles in helping R-MC to a school record 28 wins, its
first ODAC Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Block has appeared in 97 matches since arriving in Ashland. She
has recorded 1,315 assists, which ranks seventh all-time in
Randolph-Macon history.
Winton is currently ranked seventh all-time in R-MC history with
835 kills during her four-year career. In, 2009 she was named the
ODAC Player of the Year and First-Team All-ODAC after leading the
league with 364 kills.
Tarleton has made 63 appearances for the Yellow Jackets since
joining the volleyball program. A defensive specialist and libero,
Tarleton has recorded 162 digs during her time in Ashland.
R-MC will be right back in action on Tuesday when it travels to
Randolph College for a 7:00 pm ODAC match.
