Shenandoah Holds off Late R-MC Rally to
Escape With a 3-2 Win

ASHLAND, VA-- Freshman Amanda
Nelms and Senior MaryCarol Davis both netted a goal for R-MC
Women's Soccer but, the Yellow Jackets could not overcome
Shenandoah's three first half goals, falling 3-2.
The Hornets struck first with a goal from
Stormie Malik in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Randolph-Macon was awarded a penalty kick in the
eighth minute and the Yellow Jackets' senior MaryCarol Davis
punched it in to tie the game 1-1.
Shenandoah answered with a Kirsten Olson goal in
the 16th minute and a goal by Jessi Dennis in the
21st to take a 3-1 into halftime.
Randolph-Macon closed the gap to 3-2 with a goal
from Amanda Nelms who netted an Erin Hauser pass.
Despite several late offensive charges from the
Yellow Jackets, Shenandoah held on for the 3-2 win.
R-MC outshot Shenandoah 20-11 and also held a
6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Yellow Jackets' keeper Mary Jocelyn guarded the
net in the final 68 minutes and collected four saves. Hornets'
keeper Kat Terza stopped six shots.
Randolph-Macon Women's Soccer will be back in
action Saturday, September 26th when they travel to
Eastern Mennonite for a 6:00 p.m. match.
