R-MC Volleyball Knocks off Washington and Lee 3-0; Jackets hand
Generals Just Second ODAC Loss Since 2001
ASHLAND, VA - Behind 12 kills from Raena Winton, the
Randolph-Macon volleyball team knocked off Washington and Lee 3-0
on Wednesday night in Ashland.
The Yellow Jackets are now 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Washington and Lee falls to 1-4 and 0-1 in the ODAC. The R-MC win
snaps W&L's 19 match winning streak in ODAC play and marks just
the second league loss since 2001 for the Generals.
The Jackets took game one by the score of 25-22 and extend its
lead to 2-0 when they scored a 25-16 victory in game two. W&L
rallied in the third game, building a 20-10 advantage, but the
Jackets went on a 17-5 run to win 27-25 and close out the match.
Joining Winton on the offensive attack was Jessica Sears who
eight kills and Savanna Love who dished out 17 assists.
Defensively, Jill Kubichan led the way with 19 digs, while Sears
and Mallory Carter had 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
R-MC will be back in action on Sunday when it takes on Guilford
at 1:00 p.m. in Ashland.
