Gradel's Two Goals Lead Virginia Wesleyan Past

VIRGINIA BEACH,
VA-Randolph-Macon Women's Soccer trailed by just one
halfway through the second period to Virginia Wesleyan College
Tueday. VWC is ranked seventh in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region
Poll and struggled to score early against the R-MC defense. The
Marlins rattled off three goals in nine minutes late in the game to
capture a 4-0 win.
Virginia Wesleyan struck first with a goal in the 28th
minute from Katie Gradel which held to be the game winner.
The R-MC defense kept VWC at bay until Gradel netted her
second goal in the 68th minute to put them up 2-0.
Virginia Wesleyan scored added two more late scores off the
foot of Jessica Edelman in the 71nd and 77th
minute leaving the final 4-0.
R-MC keepers China Bradley and Mary Jocelyn combined for eight
saves in the game.
The Marlins outshot the Yellow Jackets 26-9 including a 13-5
advantage in shots on goal. VWC also held a 9-1 lead in corner
kicks.
R-MC Women's Soccer will be back in action Saturday, September
19th when they host Hollins at 2:00 p.m. VWC travels to
Washington & Lee Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
