R-MC Volleyball Opens 2009 Season with a 3-0 Home Win

ASHLAND, VA - The Randolph-Macon volleyball team opened its 2009
season with a 3-0 home win over Marymount University on Tuesday
evening. R-MC (1-0) won by game scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20.
Raena Winton led R-MC offensively with eight kills on the night,
while April Hines and Mallory James each chipped in with seven
kills of their own. Freshmen Mallory Carter and Jessica Sears each
put away six kills in their first collegiate action, while Savanna
Love (20) and Sam Block combined for (16) 36 assists without a
serving error.
On the defensive side of the net, Hines registered four blocks
and Jill Kubichan led the way with 17 digs. Sears and Carter had
nine digs apiece, while Love recorded nine stops in the win as
well.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday night when it
travels to St. Mary's of Maryland for a 7:00 p.m. match.
