R-MC Sweeps Emory & Henry in Softball Doubleheader, Improves to 8-4 in 2009

Ashland, Va. - Randolph-Macon swept its second consecutive ODAC doubleheader Wednesday, this time defeating Emory & Henry by scores of 8-0 and 11-3. Katie Raulerson pitched a complete-game shutout in game one, while Morgan Greene hit 3-for-3 in game two.

The Yellow Jackets piled on eight runs in the first three innings of game one, tallying three in the first, three in the second, and two in the third. R-MC's Laura Bauer, Ashley Crouch, Katie McCauley, and Julie Addington all registered two hits in the contest. Raulerson pitched well, striking out eight batters without allowing a walk.

R-MC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings the second game. The Wasps tallied three runs in the top of the third inning, but the Yellow Jackets scored one run in the bottom of the third and six in the bottom of the fifth to seal the sweep. R-MC centerfielder Morgan Greene hit three-for-three, while Megan Shepherd, Bauer, and Shannon Long picked up two hits. Courtney Brook pitched all five innings to pick up the complete-game victory.

The Yellow Jackets return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 3:00 doubleheader. R-MC returns home when it hosts Virginia State on Saturday at 1:00.
