Lynchburg Mounts Second Half Comeback to Get Past R-MC

LYNCHBURG, VA - Meredith Young gave
Randolph-Macon Field Hockey a 1-0 halftime advantage but, Lynchburg
scored three second half goals to down the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in
ODAC semi-finals Tuesday. R-MC finishes the season with an 11-10
record and a 4-3 ODAC mark.
Meredith Young (Basset, VA/ Carlisle School) rattled the cage on
a pass from Mary McCarthy (Rixeyville, VA/ Culpeper) late in the
second half to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 halftime advantage.
Jordan Warrington netted goals in the 39th and
47th minute to put the Hornets up 2-1.
Lynchburg extended the lead to 3-1 late in the second half on a
goal from Allie Weir.
R-MC keeper Nicole Woodworth (Culpeper, VA/ Eastern View)
stopped a career high 14 shots in the game while LC goalie Sarah
Cates recorded one save.
The Hornets held a 37-3 advantage in shots and a 16-1 lead in
penalty corners.
Randolph-Macon's 11 win season marks the program's highest win
total since the 1999 campaign.
