Box Score ANNVILLE, PA - The Randolph-Macon men's basketball team got
double-digit scoring from five different players as the Yellow
Jackets knocked off Rutgers-Newark 76-60 in the first-round off the
Lebanon Valley Tip Off Tournament in Annville, PA.
R-MC is now 2-0 on the season and will play either
PSU-Harrisburg of the host Dutchmen on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
David Carlson came off the bench to lead R-MC with 18
points. Eric Pugh and Brandon Braxton each had 12 points,
while Jordan Brown and Danny Jones each scored 11 in the win.
Jones had 10 rebounds to record the double-double and Adam
Desgain also grabbed 10 boards. The duo helped R-MC to a 48-30
advantage on the glass.
Randolph-Macon fell behind 26-12 when James Johnson connected on
a three-pointer with 10:22 to play in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets rebounded and closed out the first stanza with a
24-6 run to take a 36-32 lead into the locker room.
The game remained close in the opening minutes of the second
half with Rutgers-Newark taking back the lead 41-39 on a dunk by
Johnson with 16:15 to play.
R-MC again rebounded, scoring 16 of the next 22 points, building
a 55-47 lead on a Pugh three pointer with just under 10
minutes to play.
RNU would cut the lead to six a few minutes later, but R-MC went
on a 13-1 run to seal the game and advance to the championship game
of the tournament.
