Trinity University Gets Past R-MC 3-1 in NCAA First
Round Matchup
GEORGETOWN , TX - The Randolph-Macon Volleyball team saw its
2009 season come to an end on Thursday with a NCAA First-Round loss
to Trinity (TX). R-MC, who won its first ODAC championship,
finishes the year with an all-time best school record of
28-7. The Yellow Jackets fell to Trinity (TX) in four games
(25-23, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17).
Raena Winton (Magnolia, TX/ Waller led the R-MC attack with 13
kills. Jessica Sears (Newport News, VA/ Menchville) stepped in for
11 kills in the match. Mallory Carter (Moseley, VA/ Cosby) recorded
eight kills while April Hines (Suffolk, VA/ Nansemond River) and
Mallory James (Chesapeake, VA/ Western Branch) added seven.
Courtney Anderson (Virginia Beach, VA/ First Colonial) paced the
Yellow Jackets with 17 assists while Samantha Block
(Charlottesville, VA/ Albemarle) recorded 15 helpers.
Sears also lead the Randolph-Macon defense with 21 digs. Senior
Jill Kubichan (Chesapeake, VA/ Great Bridge) pitched in with 16
digs during the match.
The Yellow Jackets had five total blocks in the match, two of
them being solo blocks by Hines.
