Randolph-Macon Tops Sweet Briar 4-0 in ODAC Women's

ASHLAND, VA - MaryCarol Davis scored and added two assists to
help pace Randolph-Macon to a 4-0 victory over Sweet Briar Tuesday
afternoon in Ashland. R-MC now stands at 7-4-0 overall and
4-3-0 in the ODAC.
R-MC peppered SBC keeper Seanne Weekes with shots thought out
the first half, but Weekes turned away 11 Jackets tries and got
help from her crossbar on two occasions, keeping the match
scoreless at the intermission.
Randolph-Macon finally got on the scoreboard in the
59th minute when Tory Suchoza's corner kick found the
head of Amanda Nelms, putting R-MC up 1-0.
An Ashley Malinowski header on a double assist from Angela Nelms
and Davis in the 65th minute, doubled the R-MC advantage
to 2-0.
After Davis set up an Erin Hauser score off a free kick in, she
capped the scoring with a penalty shot with just under 10 minutes
to go in the contest.
Sweet Briar (2-8-1 / 0-5-1) got 16 saves from Weeks in the loss
and its best chance to score in the 38th minutes when
Caitlin Swauger got free in the R-MC box but her shot hit off the
crossbar and went out of play.
R-MC held a 32-3 advantage in shots and a 14-3 edge in corner
kicks. Mary Jocelyn played just over 82 minutes in net
for the Jackets and combined for the shutout with China
Bradley.
