Hot Shooting Randolph-Macon Takes 79-66 ODAC Road Win at
Washington & Lee

ASHLAND, VA - Randolph-Macon's Justin Short poured in a
game-high 22 points as he led the Yellow Jackets to their
13th win in the last 14 games with a 79-66 ODAC road
victory at Washington and Lee Wednesday evening in Lexington.
R-MC (14-4 / 8-1 ODAC) shot a blistering 63.7% from the floor,
making 30-of-47 shots on the night. Billy Campion and Brandon
Braxton played a big part in 38 points in the paint with 11 and 12
tallies, respectively. The Jackets assisted on 13 of their field
goals, led by a game-high six from Short.
W&L (12-5 / 5-3 ODAC) was led by Ben Heller who had a
team-high 19 points on the night. Chris McHugh also had 17 points
for the Generals who were held to 41.8% shooting from the
floor and were just 1-of-14 from beyond the arc.
The Yellow Jackets shot 60% in the first-half to stake
themselves to a 35-28 lead at the break.
R-MC would extend its advantage to 11 points with just under 15
minutes left in the game when Short converted two free-throws to
make the score 46-35. Short then would help push the lead to 14
points when he canned his lone three of the game with 8:51 to
go, making the score 59-45.
Washington and Lee chipped away and was able to cut the R-MC
lead to seven when McHugh connected on a three-pointer with 2:39 to
go. That would be as close as the Generals would get as the Jackets
scored 10 of the final 14 points down the stretch to seal its
44th win in its last 45 meetings with W&L.
The Yellow Jackets will be on the road Saturday when it travels
to Greensboro, NC for a key ODAC game with Guilford College.
Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
