Calabrese Goal Sends R-MC to Second Win of Season

ASHLAND, VA - Megan Calabrese scored in the seventy-third minute of Wednesday's contest between Randolph-Macon and Shenandoah University. Her goal proved to be the only tally the Yellow Jackets needed, as they grabbed the 1-0 victory behind a shutout from goalie Mary Jocelyn.

Caitlin Blake assisted on the goal, sending a cross in front of the Shenandoah net. Hornet goalie Kat Terza attempted to intercept the pass, but only managed to tip the ball. Calabrese received the pass and quickly deposited the game-winning shot into the Shenandoah cage.

After a scoreless first half, the Yellow Jackets controlled the final forty-five minutes of the match. R-MC outshot Shenandoah 9-3 in the second stanza and controlled the corner kick battle as well, earning a 4-2 advantage. Yellow Jacket goalie Mary Jocelyn recorded five saves in ninety minutes of work to earn her second win of the 2008 campaign.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday afternoon when they visit Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
