R-MC now stands at 24-13 overall and 7-10 in the ODAC. The
Yellow Jackets can secure a berth into next week's ODAC Tournament
with a win over Lynchburg when the teams resume their game that was
halted due to darkness with score tied 6-6 in the eighth inning.
Details surrounding where and when the game will be completed has
yet to be determined.
The Yellow Jackets trialed 3-1 heading into their final at bat
of game two against the Wasps. With two outs, Morgan Greene tripled
to score Becky Clark to pull R-MC to within in one at 3-2. After a
Carrie Barchick walk, Paige Smith singled home Clark to tie the
game.
After each team scored in the eighth and did not allow a run in
the ninth, Meaghan Mauck grounded out to score Smith and give R-MC
the lead for good at 5-4. The Jackets tacked on insurance runs
behind an RBI single by Ashley Crouch, who would later come around
to score when the Wasps misplayed a ball of the bat of Clark.
Clark picked up the win in relief for Randolph-Macon after
allowing just one hit and one run over 3.1 innings of work to
improve her record to 4-0 on the season.
