R-MC Opens Up ODAC Slate with a 84-59 Win at

LYNCHBURG, VA - Randolph-Macon had four double-digit scorers and
out rebounded Randolph 41-19 as the Yellow Jackets upended the
WildCats 84-59 Wednesday evening in ODAC Men's Basketball action.
R-MC (2-3 / 1-0 ODAC) got a game-high 20 points from point guard
Justin Short, while Jordan Brown and Calvin Croskey tallied 11
points and Boris Varela chipped in with 10. The Jackets shot 44.6%
from the floor on 29-of-65 shooting and assisted on 20 of their 29
made field goals.
Randolph (1-5 / 0-2 ODAC) got 20 points from Pete Hamilton and
14 tallies from Derri Woods-Morrow. R-MC held the WildCats to 37.7
% shooting, including 5-of-22 from three point range.
Leading by five points with just under five minutes remaining in
the first-half, R-MC scored 12 of the final 18 points to take a
39-28 lead into the locker room at intermission.
The WildCats opened up the second-half by outscoring R-MC 10-1,
cutting the Jackets lead to just two at 40-38 when Timothy Clarke
made a jumper with 17:01 to go in the game.
With 13 minutes remaining and leading 48-44, Randolph-Macon went
on 14-4 run, opening up 64-42 advantage when Short converted a pair
of free-throws with 7:36 to go.
On the WildCats' ensuing possession, Hamilton connected on a
trifecta to pull Randolph within 10 at 62-52, but that would be as
close as they would get as R-MC finished the game outscoring their
hosts by a 22-7 margin.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it
welcomes Emory & Henry to Ashland at 2:00 p.m.
