Strong Start Sends Emory & Henry Past Randolph-Macon

EMORY, VA -- Emory & Henry scored 21 first-half points en
route to a 24-10 victory over Randolph-Macon Saturday afternoon in
ODAC Football action.
The Wasps got 136 yards rushing and a touchdown from running
back Caleb Jennings, while quarterback Brent McDonald was 15-of-18
for 209 yards and a pair of scores. Randolph-Macon's Zak
Thornton ran the ball 19 times for 88 yards. Quarterback Austin
Faulkner was 24-of-43 for 234 yards. Brandon Braner collected eight
catches for 94 yards.
E&H (3-3 / 1-1 ODAC) got on the board on the first play from
scrimmage when McDonald connected with Jonathan Hawkins on a
74-yard scoring pass to go up 7-0, 17 seconds into the game.
The Wasps struck again on their next possession when Jennings
broke off a 43-yard scoring scamper that put E&H up 14-0 with
just over nine minutes to go in the first quarter.
Emory & Henry scored its final touchdown of the afternoon
with 12:21 to go in the first-half when McDonald and Hawkins teamed
up again for a 14 yard scoring strike.
On its second possession of the second-half, R-MC (2-4 / 1-2
ODAC) put together a 18 play, 78 yard drive that was capped off by
a one-yard quarterback keeper by Faulkner that made the score 21-7
with 2:12 to go in the third quarter.
After a Luke Hawk field goal extended the Wasps lead to 24-7,
R-MC's Spenser Bolen capped a 10 play, 52 yard drive with a 28 yard
field go to make the score 24-10 with just over eight minutes to go
in the game.
Christian Stahl and Hassan Shonekan both had nine tackles on the
day for R-MC, while Ed Smith and Matt Baldwin each had nine stops
for E&H.
Randolph-Macon will return to action
next Saturday at home when it takes on non-conference foe Frostburg
State University.
