Nicholas Barhorst

Nicholas Barhorst is a dedicated football coach with experience at the collegiate and professional levels, specializing in defensive backs and special teams. He currently serves as the Special Teams/Defensive Backs Coach at Randolph-Macon College, where he brings proven success in player development, recruiting, and game planning to one of the top programs in Division III football.

Prior to joining Randolph-Macon, Barhorst served as the Defensive Backs and Special Teams Coordinator at St. Ambrose University (NAIA) in Davenport, Iowa. There, he developed game plans, led position meetings, coordinated the JV defense, and mentored student-athletes both on and off the field. During his tenure, he coached multiple all-conference performers, including a league-leading safety and an all-conference long snapper.

His coaching journey also includes international experience with the Wroclaw Panthers of the European League of Football (ELF) in Poland. He helped develop a standout secondary featuring multiple ELF All-Stars and Top 50 league players while working with athletes from across Europe and the United States.

Earlier in his career, Barhorst coached at Wilmington College (NCAA DIII), where he worked with cornerbacks and nickels while assisting with special teams. He was instrumental in player development, recruiting, and game planning, helping guide athletes to all-conference recognition.

A former collegiate defensive back himself, Barhorst was a three-year varsity letterman at Baldwin Wallace University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science. He is also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership at St. Ambrose University.

With a track record of success at every stop, Coach Barhorst brings energy, discipline, and a global perspective to Randolph-Macon College football.
