Bill Rogers

Women's Volleyball Head Coach Bill Rogers will begin his 23rd season at the helm of the Randolph-Macon Women's Volleyball program in 2024.

Rogers recently attained his 450th win as a volleyball head coach. His all-time record at the school sits at 483-197 (.710), which is top 30 in win percentage and top 50 in total victories among active coaches in Division III. His career at the helm includes seven ODAC regular season titles, seven ODAC tournament titles, and nine NCAA tournament appearances. Rogers' currently has six ODAC Coach of the Year awards to his credit. The Yellow Jackets made the national quarterfinals in 2015 under Rogers.

Rogers has coached 10 ODAC Player of the Years, most recently Grace Parker won the award in her record-setting 2023 season, giving her back-to-back ODAC Player of the Year honors. He has also coached five ODAC Rookie of the Years, which Parker was also the last to win it in 2019.
After the conclusion of the 2021 season, Rogers ranked 28th amongst winningest active head coaches in Division III. Rogers' winning percentage was at nearly 72% for all contests. That number grows to nearly 90% inside the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with Rogers' having won every ODAC regular season contest in five of eight years from 2013-21.
In both 2018 and 2019, Rogers directed the Yellow Jackets to ODAC regular season titles and ODAC Tournament runner-up placement. 2019 marked the sixth-straight year R-MC had won the regular season title and the season included some key wins against nationally-and-regionally ranked opponents including Juniata, Wittenberg and Marymount during the regular season. R-MC earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and competed at the Newport News Regional. 
In 2017, his team went 23-7 and won their sixth ODAC Tournament and finished with their fifth ODAC Regular season title. He also won ODAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time and for the fourth time in six seasons. They appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time under Coach Rogers
Under Coach Rogers, the Yellow Jackets have been to ten ODAC Tournament Finals in 14 seasons. In 2016, he won his first AVCA South Region Coach of the Year Award as his team won the ODAC Tournament Championship for the fifth time. 

In 2015, Rogers led the Yellow Jackets to their most successful season in history going 28-8 overall, undefeated in ODAC play, and winning the ODAC Tournament Championship.  The Yellow Jackets, in their fifth D-III NCAA Tournament appearance that year, defeated rival and regional powerhouse Christopher Newport in the second round en route to the team's first ever National Quarterfinal appearance. 

Rogers has helped mentor several All-American and All-Region selection as well as many other All-Conference selections, including seven in 2019, the most of any of his teams.

In addition to his 20 successful seasons at Randolph-Macon, his coaching credentials and experience include the following:

  • USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation (CAP) III Certified Coach
  • Successful Coach with Fredericksburg Volleyball Club 14U-18U for 12 years serving as director from 2010-'13
  • USAV Old Dominion Region Coaching Chair
  • Certified IMPACT Instructor

Rogers serves as the College's Director of Volleyball, serving as a member of the Men's Volleyball leadership staff in addition to his coaching duties with the Women's team.

In the offseason Rogers lives in the southern area of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia on a horse farm.  His hobbies include trail riding on his Tennessee Walking Horse, Jack, and spending time with his two Beagles, Bodie and Ned.  In addition, Rogers is the CEO of his own successful irrigation design firm, Irrigation Research & Design.
