Brett Barron

Brett Barron begins his second season as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon in 2021-22.

During his first season in Ashland, Barron helped R-MC record an undefeated season at 12-0. The Yellow Jackets captured their second straight ODAC Championship, winning three games on the road to claim the crown. R-MC won 80-49 at Bridgewater in the quarterfinals, 77-71 at Roanoke in the semifinals and 70-62 at Lynchburg in the finals. Following the ODAC Tournament, R-MC hosted second-ranked Trine in a battle of unbeatens. The Yellow Jackets posted a 69-55 victory, holding the Thunder to their lowest point total of the season. R-MC set a program mark with its 33rd consecutive home win, the longest current streak in Division III. The Yellow Jackets were No. 1 in the final D3hoops.com national poll.

For the previous two seasons, Barron served as a graduate assistant coach at Division I Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa. His duties included nutrition coordinator, weight room liaison, assisting with guard and post skill development, film breakdown for post-game and player development, and organization of travel equipment, meals, and practices. The Red Flash went 40-25 and reached the NEC Championship Game twice. Barron worked with a pair of NEC Players of the Year in Keith Braxton (2018-19) and Isaiah Blackman (2019-20). Barron earned a Master of Health Science from Saint Francis this past May.

A native of Drums, Pa., Barron played four seasons at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. A Dean's List student-athlete, Barron was named to the MAC Freedom Conference Sportsmanship Team as a senior. He assisted the coaching staff in recruiting during his final season. Barron received a Bachelor of Science in Sport & Exercise Physiology from DeSales in 2018 and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

During the spring semester of 2017, Barron completed a strength and conditioning internship at Lehigh University. He worked with multiple sports teams with daily strength training programs. He also helped student-athletes recovering from injuries.

In the fall semester of 2017, Barron worked in a sport performance internship with Lehigh Valley Health Network. He assisted individual clients as well and youth and high school teams of different sports. Barron ran performance tests for semi-professional arena football players.

In 2018, Barron volunteered with the men's basketball program at Lehigh University. He assisted with film breakdown, camp marketing and data entry.

From 2014-19, Barron worked in the Parks & Recreation Department in Hazleton, Pa. He was co-director and director of youth basketball clinics and ran the youth basketball league each summer. Barron coached at the Hoop Group Pocono Invitational Skills Camps from 2014-17. He assisted with the Hoop Group Elite Camps and Jamfest Tournaments from 2016-17.
