Russell Mollet will begin his sixth year as an assistantcoach with the Randolph-Macon College football team in the fall of2009. He will serve as the co-defensive coordinator and work withthe defensive backs.
Prior to coming to Randolph-Macon for the 2004 season, Molletwas at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana since 1988.There, he served as defensive coordinator for the football teamfrom 1988 until 1999. From 1999 through 2002, Mollet was the headfootball coach at Rose-Hulman, and was an assistant coach for the2003 season. He was also an assistant track coach during his entiretime there.
Mollet coached at several schools before Rose-Hulman. From 1986through 1988, he was football defensive coordinator and assistantbaseball coach at Washington University in Missouri. Before that,he was an assistant football coach at Southwest Missouri StateUniversity, Independence Community College in Kansas, and AftonSenior High School in St. Louis. In addition, Mollet was a graduateassistant football coach at Western Illinois University, assistantat Branson Junior High School in Missouri, and student assistant atSouthwest Missouri State University.
A 1975 graduate of Southwest Missouri State with a B.S. degreein education, Mollet played four years of varsity football. Heplayed in 37 varsity football games in his career, as a linebackerduring his freshman season and center the other three seasons.Mollet also received a M.S. degree in physical education fromWestern Illinois University in 1985. He graduated from Afton SeniorHigh School in St. Louis in 1970.
Mollet and his wife Teresa have two children, Daniel andMelissa, and a granddaughter, Jenna Ann Mollet.
