Emmrich completed his second season as an assistant coach at RMC in 2024. He worked with the secondary and served as defensive coordinator.
Following the record-setting season of 2023, RMC posted seven straight conference wins to earn its 15th ODAC championship, the most in conference history. The Yellow Jackets were ranked No. 15 in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) and earned a bye in the first round of the NCAA Championship. RMC would host No. 23 Washington & Jefferson in the second round. The Yellow Jackets rallied from a 14-0 deficit to record a 38-22 victory. RMC joined Mount Union, North Central and Wartburg as the only programs to reach the Round of 16 in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The season would end for the Yellow Jackets at No. 3 Salisbury.
RMC is one of three programs in NCAA Division III with nine or more wins in each of the past six full seasons (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), joining Mount Union and North Central. The Yellow Jackets have a 44-3 ODAC record since 2018 (.936) and own a 48-5 overall record since 2020 (.906). Since 2018, RMC has the highest winning percentage (.868) of any college program at all levels on the East Coast (including Pennsylvania and New York) except for the University of Georgia.
The Yellow Jackets won their first 13 games in 2023, a program record for victories in a season, and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. RMC hosted three of its four NCAA Playoff contests, including a dominant 46-0 triumph over No. 19 Ithaca in the second round and hit the road for a thrilling 39-36 victory at No. 7 Johns Hopkins in the third round. The Yellow Jackets won their 14th ODAC title with a 7-0 conference mark as Arruza was named ODAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time and Region 3 Coach of the Year by D3football.com for the first time. RMC was No. 6 in the final AFCA poll.
For the previous five years, Emmrich has served on the staff at Marian University in Indianapolis. This past season, he coached the linebackers, assisted with special teams and was academic coordinator. The Knights went 9-2 in 2022 and were an NAIA national quarterfinalist. The Marian defense was fifth in the NAIA in scoring defense at 11.8 points per game and eighth in rushing defense at 71.1 yards per game. Marian was NAIA national runner-up in 2019, leading NAIA in total defense at 231.9 and pass efficiency defense at 89.6.
From 2015-17, Emmrich was an assistant coach at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., mentoring the linebackers. Prior to Augustana, he worked as an assistant coach at St. Xavier University in Chicago and at Nashua-Plainfield High School in Nashua, Iowa.
Emmrich earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fitness Management from Wartburg College in 2014.
