DanielRollins begins his first season as an assistant baseball coach atRandolph-Macon in 2011. Rollins, a 2009 Randolph-Macon Collegegraduate, returns to Ashland after spending last year as anassistant coach at George Washington University.
Whileat George Washington, Rollins coached Eric Cantrell and TomZebroski, who were taken in the 7th and 45th rounds of the 2010First Year Player Draft by the Kansas City Royals. For theColonials Rollins worked with the outfielders, pitchers, hitters,and coached first base. He also helped with on-campus recruitingand developed GWU’s fall camp.
Rollins,a native of Hartfield, VA, played at Randolph-Macon until an injuryduring his sophomore season ended his playing career following hisjunior season. Rollins stayed with the baseball program as avolunteer assistant coach in 2009 and was involved with recruiting,coaching first base, working with outfielders, as well asadministrative duties.
Thepast two summers Daniel served as the pitching coach for the NewMarket Rebels of the Valley Baseball League, where he led apitching staff that was top five in pitching both summers. Rollinshas also served as the owner and director of the Winter SelectPitcher and Catcher clinics. His duties included developing allaspects of the one-day camp, as well as recruiting college coaches,professional and college players as instructors.
Rollinsgraduated from Randolph-Macon in May of 2009 with a degree inPolitical Science and a minor in Journalism. He is married to theformer Leslie Hainley, also a 2009 R-MC graduate. The Rollinsreside in Silver Spring, MD.
