PAUL WEBB NAMED HEAD COACH
In his 19 years on the bench for the Yellow Jackets, Coach Paul Webb helped lift the Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball program to state and national prominence. He led the Yellow Jackets to their first Mason-Dixon Conference Championship, their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and 315 total wins. His success as a basketball coach saw him honored as an inductee to seven different Halls of Fame, amassing 511 career wins over the course of his head coaching career.
1964
CRENSHAW GYMNASIUM IS COMPLETED
December 1, 1964- The Jackets play their first game in Crenshaw Gymnasium. a 95-33 victory over Lynchburg. RMC would set the longest home win-streak with 64 straight wins from 2019 through 2023 under Josh Merkel.
1965
FIRST NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE
With Virginia Small College Player of the Year Irv Sentz and RMC Hall of Famer Stan Trimble leading the way, RMC earns its first invitation to the NCAA Tournament. The 1965 team went 19-5 overall, posting an 11-1 record to claim the 1965 Little Eight Championship, while reaching nan impressive 15-2 mark in the Mason Dixon Conference. Going 9-0 at home that year, the Yellow Jackets won 44 straight home games to break in the newly built Crenshaw Gymnasium.
1975
FLETCHER JOHNSON GOES FOR 52
February 3, 1975- Fletcher Johnson tallies 52 points versus Catnolic university, setting the programs all-time record for most points scored in a single game. Johnson would go on to score 2,216 career points, the most in school history.
