ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon football team moved back into the top-25 in the D3football.com Week 2 poll, moving into the final spot at #25.
Randolph-Macon stunned #3 Johns Hopkins in the home opener for the Yellow Jackets this past weekend. The Lemon and Black defeated the Blue Jays by a score of 28-21 to help RMC move back into the national poll. RMC bounced back from its season opening road loss at Dickinson College the week prior.
The Yellow Jackets have also moved back into the receiving votes section of the AFCA Coaches Poll for week two.
Season Highlights & Notes
- The win is the first time RMC has defeated JHU in back-to-back meetings since winning six in a row from 1960-2002.
- Matthew MacNichol (Roanoke Rapids, N.C./Roanoke Rapids) was named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.
- Mitchell Johnson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) moved past Eric Hoy '18 into fifth all-time in rushing touchdowns with 33 overall. The senior needs three more touchdowns to jump Howard Stevens '69 into fourth overall in program history.
Randolph-Macon will conclude its non-conference portion of its schedule, playing host to Maryville (Tenn.) on September 19 at 12:00 p.m.
