SAVANNAH, Ga. - Randolph-Macon men's golf is in action for the first time since it's fall portion of its season, taking part in the Port City Classic, currently in fourth place in a 20-team field.
Charlie Wilkerson (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had himself a dominant two-round day for the Yellow Jackets, leading a field of over 100 golfers. The sophomore totaled nine birdies in two rounds and recorded pars on 17 holes. The highlight of the day was the front nine in the second round for the Midlothian native, cashing in five birdies to begin the round at -4 (32). Wilkerson finished the day with a one-shot lead at +2 (144).
Carter Chapin (Seaford, Va./York) started the day, shooting even par on the front nine with two birdies. The sophomore ended the two-round day in 33rd place as an individual with a score of +10 (152).
Ty White (Emporia, Va./Greensville County) finished the 36-hole day one shot behind his teammate Chapin, firing a +11 (153), sitting in 36th place as an individual. The sophomore ended the second round with the second-best score on the team, as he shot +5 (76).
Kole Kohut (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) and
Joseph Winston (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) both ended the two-round day with scores of +12 (154). The duo combined for seven birdies and sits in the top 50 as individuals in a large field.
