GLENSIDE, Pa. – Despite closing a late 12-point third quarter deficit to three, Randolph-Macon was unable to complete the comeback, as Arcadia emerged with a 67-55 victory.

How it Happened
- McKenzie Matheny (Fairfax Station, Va./West Springfield) got Randolph-Macon out to a 4-2 lead after sinking a layup and knocking down a jump shot before Delaney Bell led Arcadia back out to a 7-6 advantage. Despite a cutting layup from Sam Smith (Chesterfield, Va./St. Gertrudes), Arcadia led 10-6 after a three pointer from Abby Beam. Then, RMC assembled a 7-0 run, highlighted by a three pointer from Madison Langdon (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic). Lilly Davis (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) and Erin Porter (Virginia Beach, Va./Kettle Run) both scored in the final two minutes of the first quarter, helping RMC to a 17-16 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets scored eight consecutive points to open the second quarter, thanks to a game-high eight points from Matheny. Even though the Lemon and Black held a 25-16 lead after the run, Arcadia tied the contest 27-27 after made field goals from Bell and Beam. Smith then ended the four-minute scoring drought with a layup of her own. Although the Knights hit a three with 22 seconds remaining in the half, Liz Wyrick (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day) converted on a last-second layup to give her squad a 31-30 lead heading into halftime.
- While Langdon got the scoring started in the second half with a free throw, Arcadia put together a 16-3 run over a six-minute span, jumping out to a 47-35 lead. With 37 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Matheny tallied an offensive rebound and put back layup, giving her a double-double on the afternoon. On the final possession of the quarter, Matheny knocked down a free throw, as her team trailed 38-46 heading into the fourth.
- Riley White (Hamilton, Va./Virginia Academy) sank back-to-back layups to start RMC's scoring in the fourth, as her team was down seven with 9:03 remaining. The Knights responded, as a few free throws and jump shots made by Bell extended the lead back out to 55-44. With 5:37 left in the contest, two steals from Porter led to two consecutive layups from the sophomore guard, forcing a timeout from the home team. Out of the break, Smith found Matheny for a layup, taking the foul and pulling the Yellow Jackets back within two, down 55-53. Despite the momentum and another bucket from Matheny, RMC was unable to complete the comeback, as Arcadia took the contest, 67-55.
Inside the Numbers
- While Randolph-Macon held the advantage in field goal percentage (40-to-38.6), the Knights paced the Yellow Jackets in three point percentage (33.3-to-5.9).
- RMC was able to control the glass in the game, leading Arcadia in offensive rebounds (10-to-six), defensive rebounds (31-to-26) and total rebounds (41-to-32).
- Matheny finished the contest with 18 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. She has now recorded a double-double in six of her last seven games, including in each of her past three.
- The senior forward has also tallied 12-or-more rebounds in eight of her last nine games.
- Smith turned in 11 points, five rebounds and three assists, marking her third game in a row with at least 10 points and five rebounds.
- En route to eight points, Porter sank four shots from the field. She has now registered four our more made field goals in nine of RMC's 11 games this season.
- With a pair of steals, she has registered two steals in each of her last two games.
