Women's Golf sits fifth overall in NCAA DIII Preview after round one... Junior Alexis Haller Pictured

Haller Paces #12 Women's Golf on Day One of DIII Preview

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Randolph-Macon women's golf is back in action for the first time since winning the Lynn Schweizer Invitational two weeks ago, taking part in the first round of the NCAA DIII Preview in Palm Desert, California. 

The tournament field is represented by top-25 women's golf programs in division III, coming to California from all over the country. In the field of 15 teams, there are 13 teams represented in the top-25 poll. The Yellow Jackets tied their school record for best team score in one round with a 293 score.   

Randolph-Macon received an elite performance by Alexis Haller (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School), carding a school record for an individual, shooting a -3 (69). The junior recorded pars on 13 holes and added four birdies to her scorecard. Haller currently is tied atop the individual leaderboard, heading into the final round tomorrow. 

Morgan Mussatt (Henrico, Va./Mills Godwin) kept her consistent play going in round one, shooting one-over on the front and back nine. The junior ended the round with three birdies and had pars on ten holes. Mussatt currently sits 29th as an individual in the tournament. 

Grace Anne Haggerty (Glen Allen, Va./St. Catherine's) and Lilly Hall (Yorktown, Va./Liberty University Online Academy) kept pace with their upperclassmen teammates, firing +3 (75) on the afternoon. The duo totalled six birdies, had pars on 20 holes to finish tied for 33rd as individuals. 

Elli Flinchum (Summerfield, N.C./Rockingham County) rounded out the group with an impressive +7 (79). The senior's score was key to keep every team member under 80 for the round. She had pars on 11 of the 18 total holes in the overall round.
