ASHLAND, Va. – Women's volleyball wins three consecutive sets in a dominant first match at home against Randolph.

How it Happened
- RMC opened up its first set on a 6-1 run, capped off by a service ace from Ella Courtney (Arlington, Va./Wakefield). Caitlin Smith (Greensboro, N.C., Greensboro Day School) then registered four consecutive assists, bringing the score to 20-9. Randolph closed the gap a bit toward the end of the set, but the Jackets remained in front with a solid first set win, 25-19.
- The second frame was back and forth, with neither team being able to obtain a lead greater than two points. Then, Allison Lach (Fredericksburg, Va./Richmond) registered a commanding kill to put the Jackets up 15-12. The Wildcats kept it within three until the last point of the set, where Lach was able to record another kill, winning the set 25-21.
- The Lemon and Black opened the final set on an impressive 15-3 run thanks to two aggressive kills from Mia Goode (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory). A few service aces, coupled with an electrifying kill by Kennedy McDowney (Odenton, Md./Arundel) saw RMC capture the third set.
Inside the Numbers
- This is the Yellow Jackets' best start since the 2022 season, where the team opened the season 9-1.
- RMC registered 38 assists on the night, compared to the 18 of Randolph.
- Goode led the match in kills (12) and points (15).
- Smith registered a match-high 29 kills.
- Kaitlyn Kaplan (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) was the only player in the match to record double-digit digs, posting 11.
