ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon College looks forward to welcoming fans back to campus this fall to cheer on the Yellow Jackets. With five home football games scheduled, the college is excited to see the energy and support from the community.
In preparation for the season, RMC is announcing an important update to its football game day policy regarding pets. Due to the size of the crowds and safety concerns, pets will not be permitted in the grandstand, on the track, or in the tailgate area adjacent to Day Field during football games.
This change applies exclusively to home football game days and does not affect pets on campus at other times. The decision follows several incidents involving dogs and fans in crowded spaces. After careful consideration and consultation with college counsel, the college determined this adjustment was necessary to ensure the comfort and safety of all attendees.
Randolph-Macon values the strong tradition of support from Yellow Jacket fans and their families—including their beloved pets. While this policy update was a difficult decision, the safety of our community remains our top priority.
As always, service animals are permitted in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Emotional support animals are not permitted.
For questions regarding this policy, please contact the Dean of Students Office at dos@rmc.edu.
We look forward to seeing you on campus this fall as we cheer on our Yellow Jackets!
