Elliott Kassab and Alex Richardson named to VaSID All-State Men's Swimming teams

Kassab, Richardson Tabbed to All-State Men's Swimming Teams

WINCHESTER, Va. – Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) has announced the men's swimming All-State teams and awards for the 2024-25 season. Sophomore Elliott Kassab (Richmond, Va./New Community School) was named on the first team for breaststroke and junior Alex Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) was named on the second team for the butterfly.
 
Kassab's highlight of the season was breaking the school record in the 200 yard breaststroke A final in 2:06.06, placing sixth overall in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference swimming championships. The sophomore broke the previous record of 2:06.58 that was set by Robert Redenz '17. The sophomore took home victory in the 200 breaststroke multiple times during the season and also swam in other breaststroke races. The Richmond native was victorious in the 50 and 100 meter breaststroke multiple times during the season, as a main contributor to the team point totals throughout the season. Kassab is also the record holder in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 57.04 seconds.

Richardson had a phenomenal season with the Yellow Jackets in his junior campaign, being named as first team performer. The Florida native had one of his best performances, taking home the top spot in the 200 yard butterfly A final with a time of 1:51.72 at the ODAC championship meet this season. Richardson swam the one of the fastest times in the conference against Catholic in the 200 butterfly and had top finishes against Washington and Lee and Marymount to note.
