Strong Singles Performances Highlight Men's Tennis at Roanoke


SALEM, Va. - The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team received impressive performances by Luis Geyne (Salem, Va./Salem) and Drew Crotts (Cramerton, N.C./Stuart W. Cramer) in #1 and #6 singles to headline the Yellow Jackets on the road at Roanoke on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics

Records: Randolph-Macon (2-12, 0-8 ODAC); Roanoke (7-9, 3-5 ODAC)

Doubles:

The Maroons dominated doubles and took the first point in the overall match by defeating the Yellow Jackets 18-2 in doubles play.

(RC) Michel/Ramirez def. (RMC) Evan Holzmacher (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester)/Winston Chapman (Hampton, Va./Norfolk Collegiate): 6-1
(RC) Nichols/Wagner def. (RMC) Geyne/Jett Hales (Kenly, N.C./North Johnson): 6-0

Singles:

In singles, Crotts would win the second set to send the first singles match into a final set and the freshman fell in a tough battle. Geyne bounced back from a close first set loss in sixth singles, winning the second set and fell in the third and final set to his opponent. The Maroons would go on to take all six singles points to win the match.
