FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced the 2024-25 all-conference basketball teams. The Yellow Jackets have three players represented as well as Head Coach
Josh Merkel's seventh Bob Johnson Coach of the Year honor.
Junior
Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's School) has been named to the All-ODAC First Team for the second consecutive season. Pulley Jr. scored in double figures in 13 of the 16 conference games and averaged 14.9 points per game in conference play this year, good for eighth in the league. His 2.9 three pointers per game led the ODAC and his three-point percentage of 40.7% landed him fifth in the conference, making him a dangerous threat from the perimeter. In the ODAC Quarterfinal game against Shenandoah on Wednesday, Pulley Jr. eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark.
His backcourt counterpart,
Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) also received first team honors after picking up a second team nod last year. Robinson had a scoring average of 14.6 points per game in league play but established himself as one of the premiere playmakers of the league with 3.6 assists per game, placing him fourth in the ODAC, as well as a league-leading 3.6 assist/turnover ratio. On the season, the junior guard has a 4.28 AST/TO ratio, placing him third nationally.
Sophomore forward
Malcolm Hodges (Richmond, Va./Monacan) has been named to the All-ODAC Second Team for his first All-ODAC honor of his career. Hodges was second in the conference in field goal percentage at 57.0% in ODAC play. He also averaged 10.4 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game to place him in the top 30 of the league in both categories. In the final four regular season games, Hodges was 26-37 from the field, good for a 70.2% field goal percentage. Hodges is the lone sophomore in the ODAC to receive at least second team honors this season.
Josh Merkel picks up his seventh Bob Johnson ODAC Coach of the Year nod after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 22-3 record overall and a 15-1 record in ODAC play, winning the ODAC regular season for the fourth consecutive year. RMC won 19 straight games to close out the regular season. Merkel was also named Coach of the Year last season.
Top-seeded Randolph-Macon will head to Salem to play fifth-seeded Guilford in the ODAC Semifinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets were ranked fifth in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll as well as fourth in the final NPI rankings of the regular season.
