How it Happened
- WLU held a slight edge over RMC in the first 25 minutes, placing two shots on frame that Ethan Chenoweth (Newport News, Va./Warwick) pushed away to keep the match level. Ian Edwards (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) had a chance to break the deadlock in the 36th minute but could not convert. After 45 minutes of play, the teams head into the break knotted at 0-0.
- The Yellow Jackets' offense turned up the intensity in the second half, outpacing the Generals on the field. During the 47th minute, Zach Richards (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) placed a shot on net, forcing Generals keeper Will Joseph to make the save.
- The RMC midfield continued to be a problem for WLU. The attack continued the pressure with Tyler Oakes (Nottingham, England/Toothhill School) challenging Joseph once again in the 60th minute. Three minutes later, Richards tested Joseph with a shot to the bottom left.
- The Generals started to counter with five shots of their own over the next 16 minutes. In the 84th minute, WLU had a chance to grab the lead after a corner kick that Chenoweth pushed away. 40 seconds later, the Generals had another corner kick, except this time it resulted in a goal from Sami Seife. RMC left their best performance of the year on the field as they continued to push for the equalizing goal but WLU held firm and the Yellow Jackets fell 1-0.
