6/25/2024 2:15:00 PM

ASHLAND, Va. – Morgan Mussatt (Henrico, Va./Mills Godwin) of Randolph-Macon Women's Golf has qualified for the 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur after shooting a 67 (-5) to earn a share of the title of the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier in Boca Raton, Florida on Monday.

The 2024 ODAC Rookie of the Year and WGCA All-American was one of two golfers in a field of 52 to make the 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur. Mussatt became the first RMC player in school history to earn a trip to the tournament.

"We are so proud and excited for Morgan to qualify for the U.S. Women's Amateur," said head coach Bryan Hearn. "Her years of hard work and dedication are starting to show why she's a force to be reckoned with! We can't wait to see her compete against the best women's amateurs in the nation!"

The event will take place at Southern Hills Country Club, which was the site of the 2022 PGA Championship (among many other professional golf events), from August 5-11. The top scores from the Women's Amateur will earn an exemption to the 2025 U.S. Women's Open and 2025 The Women's Open Championship.

The Yellow Jackets had an impressive season, climbing 71 spots in the national rankings, and finishing 48th in the country at season's end. Mussatt had one individual tournament win at The Savannah Invitational and became the second ODAC Rookie of the Year from RMC in as many years. She later became a WGCA All-Region and All-America selection.
