How it Happened:
- Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) got the scoring started with a bucket in the paint, which were two of his eight points as part of a 12-5 RMC run to start the game. The Yellow Jackets' lead extended to 14 at 25-11 with just over five and a half minutes remaining in the half. After RMC led 27-13 with three minutes to go, H-SC finished the half on a 5-2 run, which included a three at the buzzer to make the halftime deficit 29-18.
- Both teams traded scores out of the halftime break and RMC led 36-24 before a 12-0 run by the Tigers knotted the score at 36. The Yellow Jackets came back with their own run, an 8-1 run that put the lead back to 44-37 with just over seven minutes to go, spearheaded by a pair of and-ones by Malcolm Hodges (Richmond, Va./Monacan). The Tigers wouldn't go away, going on a 6-0 run over the course of four minutes to bring it back to one. After a bucket by Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's School), H-SC knocked down a pair of free throws, but Daniel Mbangue put RMC back up by three with a minute left. The Tigers got back to the free throw line and went one of two from the stripe and had a chance to win it twice on the final possession but strong defense by RMC was the difference, earning the 48-46 win.
