ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team saw
Juliana Park (Fairfax Station, Va./Davidson Day) lead the way with 23 points, propelling the Yellow Jackets to a 60-53 win over Dickinson.

How it Happened:
- Randolph-Macon started the game on a quick 5-0 run, led by Bella Bruce (Herndon, Va./Westfield) that knocked down a three-pointer and stole a Dickinson pass for a lay-up. Clare Cronley knocked down a three ball with 6:16 left in the first period to pull the Red Devils within two points, down 7-5. The Yellow Jackets rattled off the next seven points to take their biggest lead of the game at 14-5 with 4:10 remaining. Dickinson would pull closer with a 7-2 spurt to end the period, but Randolph-Macon would lead after the first period 16-12
- In the second period, Sam Smith (Chesterfield, Va./St. Gertrudes) made two free throws, pumping the Yellow Jacket lead back to eight points at 22-14 with 5:40 remaining. The Red Devils stormed back with a 12-0 run in the final five minutes to take their first lead of the game at 26-22. The run was led by Lizzie McGrath who scored half of the points on the run for Dickinson, giving them the four point lead going into halftime.
- The third period would pick up early with explosive offense on both sides. The Yellow Jackets started the period with three free throws, trying to get the ball in the paint for lay-ups. Park knocked down a three-pointer to tie up the game at 28-28 with 5:49 left. Clair Marion answered with a three ball soon after; the next time down the floor Morgan Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) answered and tied up the game once again at 31-31. In the final stages of the third period, Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) and Smith both knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Yellow Jackets a 35-31 lead. Smith converted a tough lay-up and finished off the three point play with a free throw, sending Randolph-Macon into the final ten minutes with a 38-35 lead.
- The first three minutes of the fourth period was dead even on both sides, led by Caitlin Blackman for Dickinson and Park for Randolph-Macon that each scored five points. Bruce and Park knocked down three pointers, coming out of the first media timeout to push the Yellow Jacket lead to 51-42 with just under five minutes remaining. McGrath capped off a 6-0 run for the Red Devils with a three ball to pull the deficit to 51-48 with 2:33 left in the game. Smith buried a long-distance three pointer with :57 seconds, as the Yellow Jackets were clinging to a 55-51 lead and pumped the lead to 58-51. Randolph-Macon would kill the final moments of the game to take home the 60-53 win.
Inside the Numbers:
- Dickinson shot 41.3 percent from the floor, as Randolph-Macon knocked down 40.8 percent of its shots.
- The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Red Devils 33-to-25 in the entire game.
- Park recorded a season high with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor. The senior hit 3-of-6 shots from behind the arc and pulled down five rebounds for the Lemon and Black.
- Smith ended the game with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
- Bruce had ten points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Yellow Jackets.
- Kagey pulled down 11 rebounds to go along with six points on the evening. The senior also contributed two assists, two blocks and two steals.
